Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1990
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definitly Yes! It has been just a great sailboat. I have thought several times of trading for a new model, but can't seem to part with it.
Gear that's been added Quit a long list:Radar,Electronic charting,VHF and single side band radios. Expanded electric breaker panel to include meters. Installed additional bank of two batteries and 3700 GPH DC emergency pump. Added several 110V recepticals thoughout ship. Stereo radio/speakers above and below deck. Autohelm, spreader lights, midship cleats. Upgraded roller furler. Installed jack line anchors and webbing, transum shower fixture. Installed blinds on all ports, upgraded interior lamps to halagon.....I'm sure there is more, but they don't come to mind right now.
Structural or complex improvements Don't know what qualifies. (see above)
The boat's best features Good solid construction. I get a lot of eye rolls from expensive boat owners, when I say that, but it's true. I've been in a lot of heavy squalls with this boat and haven't broke anything. My wife and I also enjoy the light airy cabin.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The only thing that gave me fits was the Hood furler system with the drum below deck which I have since replaced.
Sailing characterisitcs She points well and balances easily. Have gone for long periods with just a slight touch on the helm. With a 130% headsail she has good acceleration and speed. Has a tendency to be a bit tender.
Motoring characterisitcs Size of engine is adequate, but a little noisey at higher RPM.
Liveability Just Great.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Funny you should mention that. I just contacted them today about replacing a cabinet latch and hatch seals. Waiting for reply.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I bought from a Hunter dealer. No problems.
