Review of the Hunter MH 37 by Juice6576

Year built 2015
Location of boat Manitowoc, Wisconsin
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2015
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Probably not..... We love the boat design and sailing characteristics, but warranty and dealer service issues have soured our experience. In our earlier review we stated we had a possible water leak in the cabin ports. To date this issue has not been resolved by the dealer. Marlow-Hunter has all but abandoned their dealer network and are no longer supporting warranty issues. The dealer has attempted to correct leakage once and was about 50% successful.
Gear that's been added Thruster, Dodger and Bimini with connector, AIS, Outboard rail mount, Inflatable and outboard, Froli system for the after berth, 32 TV, Assymetrical Spinnaker (with sock), 2000W inverter.
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Cabin layout, Swim platform, AC and heat,
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Shore power hatch and arrangement, Cabin leaks, starboard side, Thruster issues (intermittent operation) Salon table too low. CO detectors freak out when the batteries are equalize charged from a deep discharge.
Sailing characterisitcs See our previous review. No major updates.
Motoring characterisitcs Boat is very economical under power.. Weve made several longer cruises and fuel consumption continues to be very good. Boat is nimble in the marina, but the high freeboard can be tricky in crosswinds. With the stern platform, we prefer to back into slips, and the boat is pretty easy to back up.
Liveability Really the boats best feature. With the climate control and cabin arrangement, the boat has been very comfortable on several long cruises. We added a Froli sleep system for the owners cabin, which made a major improvement in mattress comfort. The refrigerator and separate freezer gave us plenty of room for cold stores a two week cruise.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Have not gone directly to Hunter
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Purchase and delivery was great. Dealing with the cabin leak issues has been frustrating.
Other comments Overall, we love the boat. The leaks have been annoying, and the fear is damage and long term impact on our investment.
