Review of the Hunter 310 by Doug Maass

Owner bought the boat in 1999  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Maybe.  
Gear that's been added Stanchion and shroud cleats. Cam cleat for the main sheet instead of clutch. Snap holder for a boat hook.Moved the furling line to the port side so it won't interfere with anchoring and the anchor roller.Added stern cleats.  
Structural or complex improvements  
The boat's best features The cockpit and cabin.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The jib furling line crossed over the anchor rode and anchor roller channel so we moved the line to the port side.The stern cleats, mounted on a vertical surface, do not allow a good lead to a dock or piling. They should be mounted on a horizontal surface.The solid fiberglass  
Sailing characterisitcs With its high center of effort the 310 is quick to heel. This, combined with the relatively high cockpit causes some people to feel very insecure.  
Motoring characterisitcs The boat seems to have a tendency always to steer to the right under power.The high windage of the topsides tends to draw the exhaust along with you, especially (of course) with the dodger.  
Liveability Very comfortable. The stern  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Haven't yet.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Long Island Yacht Sales is very friendly and cooperative, but a bit slow to respond. Overall very good but a bit careless with the details.
