Review of the Hunter 30_88-94 by Stephen Cairns

Year built 1989
Location of boat BQYC Belleville Ontario Canada
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1992
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes , I enjot sailing my Hunter 30 (Wind Chime ) it is a very comfortable boat and is very well laid out in design .
Gear that's been added Radar with archfull cockpit enclosure
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features galley and salon design walk through trandsom
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Bathroom door lock V berth door are poorly designed , but I have notices on the later models that they have a solid doorholding tank for the head is too small
Sailing characterisitcs Sturdy boat in heavy winds ( 25kn ) doesn't point as high into the wind as I think it should
Motoring characterisitcs get the smell of desiel in the salonwould have liked the three cyl engine ( might be a little more quiet )
Liveability Have spent up to a week with six people on board it was cosy but not confininggreat for two people ( adults ) or even a couple of kids
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) good customer service at the plant Toronto Boat Show Salesmen arrogant and didn't really know what they were talking about
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Got lucky got the exact boat I was looking for at a bank auction
