Review of the Hunter 30_88-94 by Irvin Turner

Year built 1989
Location of boat Amherst,NY
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, however,I'd look for a number of other possible options that would improve the operation of the boat. I'd really look to the genoa considering Kevlar or Mylar.
Gear that's been added spreader boots
Structural or complex improvements I repaired the fiberglass and keel joint that looked cosmetically terrible. The fix appears to have worked.
The boat's best features Its sailability for shorthandedness is great.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Water damage or leakage over port window. Can't seem to locate how its happening.Having a problem with the automatic bilge. Will probably try to install a manual bilge. There's no indication that the boat has self bailing.
Sailing characterisitcs sail in moderate to heavy air without a problem. Friends believe the boat handles well.
Motoring characterisitcs This aspect has been ok. I'm not sure of the appropriate speed that should be maintained.(RPMs) Usually get some vibration at or near 1100 RPM. I'm not sure of the correct methods for handling the maintenance.
Liveability It appears fine, however, the operation of the table is considerably burdensome.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) My limited inquiry with representatives has been good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Not applicable
