Review of the Hunter 376 by Juan Reines

Year built 1997
Location of boat Guayama, Puerto Rico
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, This is a fast cruiser, When I bought my Hunter 376 I thought that it was just a perfect cruiser, but in addition to be the best cruiser she is also a very fast boat. By the way my boat name is "Cubalibre" meaning the name of a famus Cuban drink (Coke and Rum). We honor hear name by always having Rum and Coke at the boat.
Gear that's been added She is full loaded with lots of equipment and instrments. I did an upgrade to my power energy plant (mayor overhall)
Structural or complex improvements NO
The boat's best features The boat designer by sure is an expert sailor. I have seen other boats with very bad layout desing. The boat cockpit is the best. It compares with boats over 50 feet length.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I was sailing the caribean sea up wind. Waves were between 5-7 feet. Under the mast strange noice was noticed. Like if the fiberglass was breaking?????
Sailing characterisitcs My boat is equip with a roller main sail (is not new). Is very effective when wind range between 6-12 knots. If it is blowing over I need to reef the main sqail. When is blowing 10 knot I am the fastes boat of the fleet.
Motoring characterisitcs Super silent. There is a desing concern. I have to contract a mechanic only to replace the main engine impeller. It is located adjacent to the head room (no access).
Liveability The biggest 37 footer ever desing. Incredible big and well design.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) There are some room to improve. Communication was not so good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I purchesed the boat from a dealer. Very good experince.
Other comments I bought my Hunter as a planned activity for my retirement. I am 51 years old, 4 more to go. I will be sailing if God wants the Carribean. I had a very good choice, perfect boat to be sailed with my lovelly wife.
