Review of the Hunter 33.5 by patrick nannery

Year built 1993
Location of boat Ft.Lauderdale
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 5-6
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added I've added a 150 genoa, a feathering 3 blade prop, lazy jacks, 4 golf cart batteries, a new main and just bought a new A sail. And a Delta 22 lb anchor.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features This boat has plenty of room, I'm 6'2 and have plenty og head room, plus the aft bed is queen sized. The boat can be sailed single handed, everything comes back to the . The Yanmar 3gm30cant be beat, very dependable.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I've had to replace the head holding tank and the hoses,
Sailing characterisitcs The boat sails very well, but is a little slow due to the weight and the small sail area which I have tried to improve. Also, the boat wont point and I have a hard time sailing very close to the wind and in a race I'm usually outpointed.
Motoring characterisitcs The boat motors very nicely especially now that I have a feathering 3 blade prop. I can see 3k rpm and no vibration, and she will motor at 5 to 6 kts with no strain.
Liveability Excellent for two people and will due 4 for a short period of time.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Bought the boat from a dealer in St.Petersburg and was well treated.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments I like the boat very much, only wish she were a little faster.
