Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, We previously owned a h34 and do to kids going to college we downsized and purchase a Catalina 27, (really bad choice). Most sailors experiance 2'ides, and we went the other way. After suffering through this period of time on a smaller version of "Das Boot" we sold the Catalina. After exhaustively searching other possible boats for price and size, we could not find a larger boat for the price. Several of our friends have commented how much larger the interior is in our boat compared to their 36 and 37 footers.
Gear that's been added Completely gutted the cubbies and added doored cabinets (see pictures on photo forum on cabinets). Chart plotter, New galley faucet, all new opening ports, new bimini, windshield with privacy enclosure attached to bimini, runnng rigging, cushions, new ac pump, stereo system with CD and cockpit speakers, LCD 15" television, new engine hour meter, 3 battery system with one dedicated to the engine and two house batteries, cable tv hook-up,
Structural or complex improvements Stiffend the interior shell by adding cabinets and attaching them with glass, gorilla glue and fasteners. This has really added some strength while sailing in heavy seas. Eliminated some small amount of flexing, the boat feels much more solid.
The boat's best features Interior volume is comparable to a much larger boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Other than the upkeep of living on an older vessel the design is quite functional.
Sailing characterisitcs We have been caught in 50+ plus knot winds on one occason and 6'to 8'seas on several others the h34 handled them quite well. We typically experiance lighter winds here on the Gulf Coast and have been accused of running our engine while flying by our friends and neighbors when sailing.
Motoring characterisitcs The Yanmar 3GMF has been bullet proof, by doing the regular maintenace and servicing the engine according to the Yanmar guides it has been a very dependable engine.
Liveability For two people it is comfortable. Most of our friends are amazed at how much room there acutally is. We have turned the V-berth into a large closet for the two of us and that has worked out quite well. When we take our long extended voyages, we take out the clothes, put them in storage here at the marina and we have the V-berth back.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Hunter has a very attentive to our questions and concerns.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Murray Yacht Sales has sold be 4 boats, that should answer that. Stanton has a great staff and is very patient with his customers. We will be purchasing one more boat (retirement time is fast approaching) and it will be through Murray Yacht Sales.
Other comments Great boat, we will be selling it at the end of 2006 to buy the retirement boat. Who ever gets her will be getting a very well maintained boat with alot of goodies.
