The boat's best features Sails great, very solid. Very comfortable for two even on week long cruises. Lots of light and air inside. Lots of storage. I like the Origo alcohol stove/oven. Safe, easy to get and store fuel.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Not a fair lead for jib sheets to Barient winches. Wraps are common. Water tank not accessible. Holding tank too small. No usable lifeline gate when at dock. If the lifeline is opened for easy boarding it can no longer hold up the fenders.
Sailing characterisitcs Quite solid. Have sailed in chop and 27kt. wind. With a reefed main in that wind she is well balanced. Points well.
Motoring characterisitcs Engine starts immediately. Motors smoothly at 5-6 kts. Turns sharply. Reverse is OK not great.
Liveability Excellent for its size. With changes we've made (mattress, refrigeration, charging upgrades, tank monitors, galley water filter)she is quite comfortable even for extended cruising.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Any questions asked were promptly answered. Very helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Coneys Marine in Huntington provides excellent service. They sold me my first boat (1979 O'Day) and then this Hunter, and sold the O'Day for me.
