Review of the Hunter 27_75-84 by william gurley

Year built 1979
Location of boat carlyle lake, ill.
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely. This boat is a well-mannered, comfortable, reasonably fast cruiser that has already provided much fun for our family.
Gear that's been added No.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Roomy, beautiful teak interiorFast, with 155 Genoa about 7-8 knots (for a cruiser).Handles beautifully except for slight weather helm.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. No serious problems.Need to replace exhaust exit from block of Renault deisel to exhaust hose. Will do this when I haul boat out in late October.
Sailing characterisitcs Great control. In heavy wind with 155 up, requires considerable leverage on tiller.Safe.Great fun in heavy chop!
Motoring characterisitcs Slow into the wind. Could use larger engine.
Liveability O.k., but entrance to v-berth is small. Use only for occaisional overnight, so not a serious problem.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) ok.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any n/a
