Review of the Hunter 26 by Romuald Lagace

Year built 1994
Location of boat Lake Diefenbaker Saskatchewan Canada
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1995
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I defitely would ,the size of the interiorand the rear birth make it a large boat.In older boats you would have to get a 30footer to have the same kind of room.
Gear that's been added storm jib,compass,vhf radio,bbq,knotmeter
Structural or complex improvements Reef lines outhall to cockpit.
The boat's best features Lot's of room, good sail speed, points good.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. some leaks,in roof by mast, keel ropebroke. fore stay was to long.
Sailing characterisitcs In winds 10 to 15 knots boat works like a dream. We have a storm jib works great for 20 to 25knots, I should put another reef point in.Down windthe boat is a little slow, and because of the 30 degreesweep back spreader the sail will jibe if you are not on top of things.( note I single hand sail alot of the time and do not have a autohelm)
Motoring characterisitcs I have a honda 8 hp long shaft to works great. I backinto my slip this works best.
Liveability works great have spent 6-7 days with wifeand 2 children. Last summer slept 50 nights on board.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) My dealer was very good, but hunter wasnot that helpfull.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
