Review of the Hunter Vision-36 by Bill Essmaker

Year built 1992
Location of boat Cheboygan, Mi.
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes!
Gear that's been added No, The previous owner added about everything I would desire!
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features I owned a Hunter 34 Previous to this Hunter 36 and the extra room on this boat is overwhelming as well as the power from the bigger yanmar diesel. The sails are easy to handle but, I am alittle apprehensive of the larger main sail in gust, it's something I'll have to get use to. I really enjoy the size of the aft berth, pleanty of room for the wife and I.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing yet!
Sailing characterisitcs Much faster than I am use to! I love it!
Motoring characterisitcs Again, much faster than I am use to!
Liveability Plenty of room for two couples for a short time. It lacks for storage space comparing to our older Hunter 34. The refrig. is a giant step up from the old ice box of previous boats.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I haven't had a need to yet.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I bought it from the previous owner.
Other comments The stack pack system for the main I feel really sucks! The boom is so high that zipping and unzipping the cover is a total pain, also tying the mast end cover is tough with one hand to hold the mast and the other to do the tying. There has got to be a simpler way to do it than my method. If anyone out there has some helpfull advise I'd appreciate it.
