Review of the Hunter 23.5 by Brent Sells

Year built 1993
Location of boat Columbus, Ohio
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Just purchased the boat this year.
Gear that's been added No
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Ease of taking boat on and off trailer. Stability on the water. Lots of room for the kids.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The only repair that has been necessary has been tightening the screws on the hatch and applying some caulk so that it no longer leaks.
Sailing characterisitcs Performs as expected.
Motoring characterisitcs I have a 8 horse yamaha that is quite adequate.
Liveability We only use it for daysailing, but the kids love the space.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) No experience so far, although I have heard they are very good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from an individual.
Other comments So far its been a great first boat. The trailer is not particularly stable on the freeway, but if you drive reasonably (60 mph or less) it will get you there and back. The biggest improvement that you could make would be a larger trailer or some type of sway control.
