Review of the Hunter 26 by Newt England

Year built 1994
Location of boat Canyon Lake, TX
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Probably not. The boat looks spaceous inside, but there is just not enough storage space for fenders, cleaning materials, PFD cushions, etc.. It's awkward going from the cockpit forward over the
Gear that's been added Crusing Spinnaker and Chutescoop.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features A big open cockpit without a backstay.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs With the rudder set all the way forward, it cruises well and is best off the wind.
Motoring characterisitcs With the 8 HP that came with the boat, it handles well.
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
