Gear that's been added In the process of adding GPS, CD, new depth sounder, Bimini (aft of boom), upgraded plumbing, toilet & holding tank, interior fittings, electrical modifications (cabin lights, some wiring, batteries). Exterior: new life lines, running rigging, windex. (plus the usual cleaning, bottom paint and wax, and teak cleaners).  
Structural or complex improvements Previous owner fixed mast compression (rebuilt deck) and he also added a new Furlex furling system that has not been used yet.  
The boat's best features Traditional design with good use of space. A practical value for New England sailing - i.e. solid boat that has a nice cabin and sails well, It seems to be ideal for simple overnight trips.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The wiring - not marine grade is a problem, will upgrade some of it this year. I replaced all the carpet on the cabin walls with indoor/outdoor tight knit fabric (the original carpet stunk..) Have not started the engine yet. The YSB12 was ran last year. Intend to hire boatyard to service entire engine before launching boat. After reading forum, I am considering upgrading to a 3 blade prop. The quality of the laminate wood in the interior does not lend itself to much improvement. I did strip and varnish as the wood had greenish tint in spots. I'm sure there is more... but hopefully not too much more. Leaks I believe from metal rail on deck, anyone have a solution for this?
