Review of the Hunter 26 by William R. Willoughby

Year built 1997
Location of boat Titisville, Florida
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1997
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, for the following reasons.1. Seemed right for me as Up untill June of 97 I had very limited experience with sailing.2. It seemed like the right time (and I was able to convince my wife to go along with the idea).3. The reasons I was able to sell her was that the boat looked nice, the dealer convinced her that the boat was very safe.4. The reason I bought the boat is that it has great lines, was something I could afford to do without having to worry about the price if I later decided it was not what I really wanted5. Decided early on this was my training vessel and have enjoyed taking the boat out every time without exception. 6. The boat handles very well in winds 8 to 18 knots. It is very comfortable in side or out we have made several over night trips and have found the boat to be very cozy for two people.7. The boat Trailers very well with the factory dual axle trailer. I have pulled this boat with a 97 4 door 6 cylinder GMC Gimmy and it handled very well. This was in Florida so I am not sure if this would be adviseable in hill country. 8. The sad news is I'm selling this boat but, for good cause?9. I have just bought a new Hunter 380 which I hope to have delivered to the dealer by Feb 15th and commisioned by March 1, 99.

Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Handels very well.Interior space to size ratio inside, as compaired to other boats.ability to raise keal and not have to worry about running aground in shallow water.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs Boat handles well with the 9.9 Yamaha engine.
Liveability Is ok for 2 for over night stays however boat does not have a shower so longer than a few days(unless you put in for showers) might be uncomfortable. Boat has head with porta poty with sink and Galley with stove sink and good storage space.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Execellent, Have made one visit to the factory so far to view the construction process. They were very informative and answered questions without hesitation.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I am buying my new boat from Sailors Warf Located in St. Petersburg Florida. They have been very helpful in the process. Would highly recommend this company.
