Review of the Hunter 34 by craig shavlik

Owner bought the boat in 1999  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Without a doubt. I have been very satisfied with this boat. Lots of room, easy to work on and gets lots of compliments. Sits between a 150k boat and a 100k boat and all things considered, I will keep what i have!  
Gear that's been added After being 12 years old alot of things wear out or come to the end of their useful life. I have updated alot of things. New dodger new main sail cover, new cushions(foam and material) sanded and varnished the entire interior, new water heater, new bilge pump, new fresh water pump, new dock lines, new exterior striping, new interior carpet, new cd player, etc, etc. It was alot of fun to do these things. and the final look is fabulous. The boat now looks rather new and gets lots of compliments.  
Structural or complex improvements No. everything I did was cosmetic. The hull is fine with no issues and I wax the exterior twice a yr.  
The boat's best features Headroom, nice booth arrangement for eating and the price is affordable to be sitting with the big dogs.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have done alot of reading on this valuable site for information on this model. I was aware of the issues and am very satisfied with what i ended up with.  
Sailing characterisitcs We are conservative day sailers. Our typical sail is out for two hours then up to the yacht club for dinner. Its more like a cabin for us. Nonsmokers and no kids.  
Motoring characterisitcs yanmar 3gm 27 hp. runs great change oil once a yr and away you go. no issues here.
