Review of the Hunter 306 by richard

Year built 2001
Location of boat S.F. Bay
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? She is still new to me. I am having a great time testing all the new gear. Yes I would buy the same boat.
Gear that's been added Not much, some canvas covers. I plan to add a folding prop. I think that Hunter should offer this option and save the customer some$. This is the least expensive way to increase speed.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features inside design, Easy single hand sailing, price for total package.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. drain for engin compartment was not functional, had to take it back to drill out. Had to replace cutlas bearing only 33 hr. Engin was not alined correctly.
Sailing characterisitcs Handles well in gusts to 30 nots with one reef. very little weather helm. The traveler system is easy to adjust and makes a diference.
Motoring characterisitcs Smooth engin and transmission. I like the one lever for speed and dirrection.
Liveability Seen large inside for a 30 footer. I just wish I could get my wife to go for some overnight trips!
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) i asked for infomation on the saft size and thread size and they sent a nice completeinfo sheet.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any They were helpful with the need repares.
Other comments The more I sail this boat the better i like her.
