Review of the Hunter 30_88-94 by paul Caroli

Year built 1989
Location of boat Barrie Ontario
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definetly the boat is great but I probably buy a different make because of the annoying way Hunter dealt with me on 2 requests
Gear that's been added 150 Genoa dodger winter cover plus the usual small stuff
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features With out a doubt the inerior layout is superb Also it is just a very nice boat to sail with just my wife as crew. The boat has no bad habits at all
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Motor access is tight ...I wanted to adjust vale lash and it was a pain Spider cracks in the deck are annoying but I guess the boat ,in fairness is 12 years old
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs I only motor to dock ....its fine...the 2 GM vibrates but after all it is a 2 cylinder motor
Liveability Great ...for 2 people its huge ....Layout is great Table is too big ,I think I'm going to make a smaller one
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I ordered an owners manual when it arrived a lot of it was missing when I asked about it they did not want to know me Wnen I asked about running an extra halyard they would not give any advice other than to see a mast maker These 2 events have left a lousy taste I can't understand why such simple things could not be attended to .... Based on this I would hate to call them about something important
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Broker.....Bay Harbour Yachts They were fantastic ...I would not go anywhere else
