Review of the Hunter 30_88-94 by Jim Bessinger

Year built 1990
Location of boat Chatfield, Denver Co.
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutly!
Gear that's been added ST60 wind speed. Trying to figure out a bimini for which has become more complicated than I wanted.
Structural or complex improvements none
The boat's best features I can't believe how well it handels in heavy weather, as winds come up quickly over the mountains. My wife loves the room inside.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The only thing is so minor I havn't fooled with it yet, is the throttle creeps down when set over half spped.
Sailing characterisitcs The large main had me concerned, coming from a catalina that had a large headsail, however the boat handles great in our strong winds, even without reefing.
Motoring characterisitcs Our lakes are so small that you can't really motor anywhere except away from the marina.
Liveability Havn't yet.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very helpfull. Surprising since I wasn't purchasing a new boat from them. They treated me like I was buying a new boaat.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I purchased the boat from Signature Yachts in Seattle, and they bent over backwards helping me with the purchase and coordinating the delivery to Denver.
