If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Oh Yes, We definately would. It took us 2 years to find this great boat and we really have loved her. She is the perfect 30 foot boat to own.
Gear that's been added Not really. This boat sails so well and is so forgiving that we haven't really needed to add toys to enhance the fun factor.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features The interior layout and space is definately the number one best feature. She sails great and is fast and easy to sail. She is so beautiful at night with the interior lights on her teak. Hunter did a great job building this model. The fractional rig and wing keel make for a great sailing combination.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I had a dishonest mechanic that needed money and took us for an unneeded engine over haul. That hurt, but very few problems.
Sailing characterisitcs We sail out in the open ocean in the Channel Islands where the winds can kick up fast and can be unforgiving at times. Our boat has out performed our wildest imaginations and expectations. Two weeks after owning her we sailed out to Santa Cruz Islands in May and got hit by 68 mile and hour sundowners after anchoring. This boat is amazing!!!!! My wife's first experience aboard and we both gained alot of respect for her. With 50 feet of chain and 200 feet of rode we swung for 3 days in these winds and never pulled anchor.
Motoring characterisitcs We motor at 6 knots at 2400 RPM.A 3 cyclinder would be nice but this engine gets the job done. We motor sail the 12 hours each way to Catalina Island one to two times a year with no problems.
Liveability FANTASTIC!!!!!!! The best in its class.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Great!! Mike in parts is wonderful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any OK, we bought from Long Beach Yacht Sails.
Other comments Overall she is a 9!! The holding tank is a little to small or she would be a 10.
