Review of the Hunter 23 by Jim Bohart

Year built 1987
Location of boat sold
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Racing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1987
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, we won a lot of silver with this boat
Gear that's been added Mylar main and Jib, backstay adjuster, jib leads and track, main sheet travler, spinnaker gear, and tri-radial spinnaker. Spinnaker winches
Structural or complex improvements Rebuilt boat after it feel off trailer on highway at 60kts. This boat suffered major damage, and raod rash though all bulkhead tabbing, grid and hull/deck joint remained intact. Boat was repair to like new condition in 30 days.
The boat's best features Strength of hull structural components, speed, and versatility of sail plan
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Mast steppin and trailering the boat was a bit of a problem.
Sailing characterisitcs Boat was quick to accelerate, tack, and surf downwind with good following sea. The 23 pointed well and we often beat "faster" boats
Motoring characterisitcs Didn't have one
Liveability Great if you love the smell of sweat and mildewing sails.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I love me
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any No
