Review of the Hunter 23.5 by Matt

Year built 1995
Location of boat Naples FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1996
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I Would buy the boat again in an instant. I would buy it back even sooner if the top deck was a 1/16 of an inch thicker.
Gear that's been added Radio (VHF and FM), Bimini, 4 hp Yamaha, and a compass in my hand.
Structural or complex improvements a wind scoop count???
The boat's best features Large cockpit on the 23.5 is the "bomb"! as the kids tell me. getting a few miles off shore and taking turns 'dragging' on the boarding ladder is 'cool' too. The boat is the perfect overnighter for camping or on a dock.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Rubber seal on the balast tank valve separated... made for a very scary day when we thought the balast tank was full.
Sailing characterisitcs fast, responsive, easy to lanch. Best boat for the money/size!
Motoring characterisitcs It takes a bit of practice to make it look pretty.
Liveability For a weekend... great! More than that, you are in a nasty divorce/a teenager to live on board.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
