Review of the Hunter 29.5 by David Wynne

The boat's best features She sails well off the wind and goes to hull speed easily on a reach. Since we race only occasionally, the best featurea are the cruising accomdations. We graduated from a "classic" Bristol 27 which cut sharp lines in the water but four people sat on top of one another. The cockpit is roomy as is the cabin.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The standard package needs a 150 genoa which we will get eventually. Although the water intake is on deck forward, repair access to foward water tank is not easily accomplished. Main sheet trimming is done on top of the steering pulpit just forward of the instruments. That takes some getting used to.  
Sailing characterisitcs We've sailed in winds to 25knots. She's easy to reef and does not fight to helm in weather.  
Motoring characterisitcs No problem.  
Liveability It's an overnighter that sleeps four easily, more if its kids.

The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Got it from Norton Marine in Deltaville, Va. The transaction was very easy. I'm a couple hours from them, and they accomodated both me and the buyer of my old boat.  
Other comments Boat has been a pleasure. My wife was admanatly against it, but I named it after her and that seems to have helped.
