Dual forestays

The original headsail for this boat was completely rotted so I threw it in the trash even before driving the boat home. Later, I realized the wire luff is the forestay. Given I was buying used sails for this boat, I didnt exactly want to depend on the wire luffs in them to keep the mast from falling on my head. So, I ended up making a new forestay which I mounted to the forward most hole on the bow plate. I added a quick tensioner to make raising the mast and tensioning the rig at the boat ramp quick and easy. I then attached the roller drum to the aft most hole and found I had enough clearance from the forestay. I attached the top bearing mount for the roller furler to the jib halyard and then raised it up the mast. Worked great other than needing to get a bit more tension on the jib halyard (will post my solution for that once I figure it out). Nice thing is I can raise, lower, and replace the roller headsail. Yes, I actually have 2 headsails one of which is a 130% genny and the other a 90% jib. The latter gives me better pointing ability for racing. Also gives me the ability to choose the size of the headsail based on the wind conditions. This photo was taken near Pensacola, FL.
