H22 Restoration project

posted 10-07-2008 by Mark Thompson

In making my new bulkheads I used 1/2 marine plywood and laminated it using a vertical grade plastic laminate with a high gloss mahogany woodgrain pattern. Basically just like the stuff they make countertops with except thinner.

New port bulkhead and privacy curtain

Bulkheads and floorboards using mahogany plastic laminate. Floorboards are accented with a maple stripe every 3 inches. All new cushions using pacific blue sunbrella.

New cabin interior

Better pic of floorboards

New floorboards

I found a guy on eBay who sells these portlights cheaper than you can buy a plastic one at west marine. Also added some curtains.

Polished stainless portlights

Ive taken the useless spacesucking backrests out and moved the starboard sides backrest end panel over to the port side to make what you see. BTW the AM/FM radio is not only a cd player it also plays DVDs and is a TV tuner as well. Ill be posting another pic later that shows a flip-down LCD monitor

Radio central

As others have done I have moved my panel where it doesnt get wet plus added another. I needed more switches. The 2nd panel also has a 12volt outlet and an ammeter.

Electrical panel

I didnt like how I previously had to have my fuel line and alternator charging line draped over the transom so I epoxied in a thoughhull fuel line fitting and installed a 2 pin deck connector for the charging circuit. Its much much cleaner.

New auxillary mount

Ive redone all the topside wood using mahogany and decided to do away with the wood sliders and instead used 3/8 lexan which I still need to tint.

New companioinway

New paint and accent stripe

I also did away with the little alcohol stove adding this 2 burner gas cooktop which uses disposable propane bottles which I have mounted to the inside of the little door where the original alcohol stove used to be.

Added 2 burner gas stove
