Our P42 did not come with a way to secure the step transom locker hatches. Heavy following seas could easily dump sea water into these lockers. A fellow skipper added SS hasps to secure his locker hatches, which is what I did. Instead of locking ours I use a spring loaded clip that secures the hasp, preventing it from opening. Nothing of real value in the hatches, but I suppose if there were you could use a lock.
