ST-50 instruments come with a square hard molded plastic cover to protect them from the elements while not in use. During the winter storms the ones for our boat would blow off and disappear. Hard to find replacements these days so came up with a simple design to keep them in place during these winter blows.

You probably recognize the plastic fencing material that I used from HD, which was left over from a yard project. Light weight, strong, easy to work with using basic tools. Used a butane torch on low to apply enough heat to soften the material in order to make a slight bend on each side to conform with the instrument housing.

A bungee cord with a lock knob on the end helps hold the plastic piece in place. Made this shield several years ago and have yet to lose a single cover to a winter blow ever since, unlike before when one or two covers would become missing each year.
