When we purchased Belle-Vie in 2002 the PO used a bungee cord to secure the anchor in the bow roller. Worked for him, but I wanted something a bit more secure. First a 1/4 hole through the sides of the bow roller in line with the anchor shaft slot where the chain shackle attaches. A SS bolt long enough to pass through the roller with the threads removed. A small hole drilled through the bolt for a cotter pin and through the bolt head for the lanyard wire. A cotter pin fabricated from a SS ring. Finally, a lanyard made from SS stranded wire secured to the bolt with a compress fitting and a loop on the other end for the cotter lock pin.
Pictures show various angles of my project. This has worked for our boat all these years after anchoring hundreds of times and in all kinds of sea states. I wanted something that was simple, easy to make, low cost and reliable. Mission accomplished.
