Factory production photos of Captiva

posted 04-07-2009 by Steve Weinstein

Several folks wanted to see some of the photos taken by the Previous Owner as she was being built at the factory. If you recall, the photo that helped me the most was the one which located the conduit pipe running from the portside aft cockpit locker (not on the swim platform - thats where the holding tank is) forward to the area of the nav station. Also one of the shots shows all the wiring coming from that conduit, plus the stuff run behind the headliner back to the nav station.

Needless to say, with the addition of the TV, Sirius, and other stuff he had installed theres twice as much wiring and its impossible to remove the things Id like to pull (like all the TV and - can you believe it - VHS player, bag-phone type cell phone, etc., etc.) to make room for my stuff. I just realized that sounds like an old George Carlin routine!

To identify the photos , they are, in decending order from the top:

- Refrigeration unit located under starboard salon seat

- Waste Holding Tank located starboard side in locker behind cockpit (Swim platform)

- That elusive PVC pipe used as a wiring conduit from the cockpit locker (port side) forward to the nav panel area.

- These are some of the wires from the top of the compression post (for mast electronics)behind the headliner, to the nav station. No conduit that we could see, they just seem to have been routed that way.

- the hot water tank with the water pump located also under the forward seat at the dinette.

- Somehow they squeezed the Phasor 6KW genset into the port side cockpit locker! Talk about built in!!!

- Fuel tank in portside aft next to the genset

- engine before addition of bulkheads and interior cabinetry.

- Potable water tank in the bow under the v-berth

- bow before the water tank was installed.
