Skylight LED lighting

posted 11-01-2014 by Albert Klettke

The cabin needed better lighting and as I had switched everything over to LED, this was to be the solution.
I bought LED strip lighting that was 48 long and marked along its length where it could be cut in to shorter sections.
I removed the inside lens and drilled 1/2 holes to pull the wiring through. I soldered wires to the new LED strips and after cleaning the fibreglass I aligned and stuck them in place. I tied the wiring in to the existing light fixtures over the galley and nav table. I installed a switch through the same panel that holds up the existing fixtures.
These really light up the cabin and look great from both inside and outside of the boat.
Total cost was about $60 in Mexico.
next I will install some strip lighting over the cabinets in the galley and maybe the head.
