I finally got around to installing a real automatic washing machine in the Hunter 31. The model that fits is an LG Sidekick 27. Disassemble to washer and get rid of the the heavy metal drawer parts. Take the plastic frame pictured in the first photo and attache it to the cabinet on the starboard side.

Install the washer in the plastic frame and attach the hoses and electric panel that was removed during the disassembly. You will need to support the washer at the right height so that it is flush with the top of the settee.

Add the settee top, cutting out the top so that the lid can open.

Completed installation. Nothing is visible. In order to operate the washer, one needs to lift the settee cushion and open the lid. The water connections are through normally closed relays (safe), the electric panel becomes accessible in the usual place. It takes around 40 min to complete a wash, it uses about 15 gallons of water and very little electricity. You need a water heater to make this mod worthwhile. The machine is around 1 cu ft.
