The table in the cabin was too big

The original table was too wide and had pointed corners. I was unable to squeeze into the seating behind the table. We also didnt use the storage well built into the table and it wasnt easy to clean it. The obvious answer a modified or replaced table. We decided to build a new table.

The support hardware and hinge were in great shape so the top and the arm that holds the leaf up were all that needed to be replaced.

As you can see a plywood base with laminate on top and wood veneer tape on the edges did the trick. I was unable to locate teak wood veneer tape, so I used cherry and stained it to look like teak. No one can tell. I rounded the corners and added teak strips to keep things from sliding off. Now the sitting area is usable. To make a bed there, I temporarily put a small plywood support across the corner for the table to rest on. Weve only done that once as we dont normally use it as a bed. With the leaf down, access forward is easy.
