Completed Project

See Cruising prop

Heres the 3-blade setup with bronze shaft. This was replaced with a stainless shaft and 2-blade sail prop. The Beneteau in the background had slung a blade from a folding prop - took the prop strut clean off.

See binocular case

The old DataMarine instruments came out. While I could get the instruments rebuilt, they could not provide me with new transducers - so they were replaced with RayMarine ST40 instruments that will mound on a Navpod on the pedestal. My friend Al Beck built a teak cover for the old instruments and fashioned this great binocular holder to go with it.

See New deck hardware

The boat was only setup with running rigging for a headsail and main. I added a spare main halyard and a Genoa. Added the port winch and new Lewmar clutches. Also replaced the old traveler with new Schaefer 1 1/2 inch track. The mainsheet controls are run to the back of the cockpit - a setup I highly recommend.

See bow pulpit

Heres the new fiberglass bow cap - the old one had been chewed up in a storm years ago. My friend Dwight Munday fabricated the replacement. The Hood reefing unit replaced an old 810 dual-line that was awful. The single line unit is great - you can easily use the winches to haul it in if necessary. Note the teak step pads - another contribution from Al Beck.

See back at home

In the slip after a 10 month hiatus. You can see the teak battens on the cabin top and the new striping on the hull. Wider stipes covered the disasterous results of trying to remove the original stripes. We didnt want to have to paint the hull or apply new gelcoat - turned out OK. Now if I could just find some reasonably priced bronze portlights....
