H260 motor mount

posted 10-07-2008 by Joe C.

See Motor mount alterations

I modified the port clamp on the motor mount to allow the motor to be mounted as far toward the center as possible. I just sawed off the lever and cut the end to a square for a wrench. This allowed room for the place where the control cables come into the outboard to have clearance in to the motor well when lifted. I also added a 1/4 shim to make more room for the clamp. Also notice that I turned the black motor mount board over to put the outboard about 2 deeper in the water to give me more margin to caviation in rough water. Moving the outboard toward the center also gave the control cables more room when the motor swings.

See Side view with motor tilted up

This shows the clearance from the side with the motor tilted up.

See Outboard in up position

This shows the clearance of everything with the motor tilted up. The steering linkage has to be on the fixed pin in order to tilt the motor up.
