Installing Pedestal

posted 10-07-2008 by Jim Seamans

See Getting Started

Had placed the first foot and drilled the access hole to bring the wires up through the deck.

See Rear bulkhead taken out

This gives access to the transom. Depth and Knot meter wires were rerouted so they could all exit via the transom and up to the pedestal.

See Electrial Panel

Exposing the wiring and to get access to the back of the knot meter. I placed a wood block to mount the electric panel to. The fiberglass is thin, screws were not holding. Also, due to the amount of wire, there is not enough room behind the panel.

See Dave has filled in the hole

Dave filled in the hole the knot/depth meter left. You can see ripples from the layer of gelcoat drying. Dave did not get to finish it off as well as he wanted. It started RAINING.. Another day...

See 45

We had finished running wires up throught the pededstal guard and were getting ready for the instrument pod. We found out the engine controls were going to hit the pod. Ordered a 54 guard.

See edson instrument pod

Instrument pod for two instruments. It normally does not come with the black face. Dave miss cut the holes which would not allow the knot/depth meter mount. So I had a piece of lexan and used it to install the instruments.

See Instruments Mounted

Instruments Mounted in the pod.

See pedestal feet

Closeup of the feet for the pedestal. These are the older mounts. Edson has come out with a new mounting system and the tubes are 1 1/8 diameter. I have installed 1 tubes.

See pedestal access

Shows the access panel to the under deck which will give access to the bottom of the pedestal.

See Hole is cut

This is a 6 1/2 diameter hole
