H26 De-Mast outcome

posted 10-07-2008 by Carl Bader

The mast raising pole was in the hole when the jib fore stay slid through the furler drum and the rest is history. The mast bounce three times on the mast crutch.

Mast side view

The force of the pole being held by the main sheet hooked to the chain locker hold down was pretty impressive.

Front shot of mast

The force ripped the aluminum pretty bad. The mast is still straight and the mast crutch didnt pound through the transome. I checked for cracks it looks sound.

last shot of a bad day
