Bow anchor roller for H26

posted 10-07-2008 by George Henry

Bow anchor roller, chain clamp and cleat. The anchor roller is welded to the bracket I had fabricated. I think its stronger than the boat. Have used it to lift my mooring anchor and haul to shore to rebuild.

Close up of anchor roller.

Chain clamp is bolted thru the rub rail with over sized washers on under side. Clamp is from Windline Marine. Chain fits thru anchor locker cover without modification to cover, just a some careful positioning of the chain before closing the anchor cover.

Chain clamp.

This is turned 90 degrees so tilt your head to the left.
The extra U-bolt is for spinnaker tack line.
Removed the SS strap on the bow to allow flush mounting of the fabricated bow mounting bracket for bow roller (also from Windline).

Of course, the addition of an anchor that will hold, means you need something more than the bow cleat that came with the H26.
I added a cleat on each side with a 3X6 backing plate.

New larger cleats for anchoring.

Access to back of cleat was gained with 4 deck plate from inside of anchor locker for clean outward appearance with locker closed.
Be careful when drilling holes not to cut wires in foam. I almost cut the depth transducer cable that took a day to pull behind the cabin liner.
Another addition this past year was a water fill plate in the vertical forward area inside the anchor locker. Its not shown in this photo. Its connected to a 25 gallon flexible tank under the v-berth. Its awkward to fill but is the only place I could find to keep the connecting hose hidden.
