This is the emergency steering shaft for a Cherubini Hunter 30 1979 model. The shaft is mounted on the end of the rudder shaft through this opening inspection plate.

This is the top of the shaft. It has a keyway on it to hold the wheel.

Here is the bottom of the shaft. This is mounted on the top of the rudder in the slot.

Mount the steering shaft on the rudder, then mount your steering wheel on top. Be sure that the wheel is pushed all the way onto the shaft. A wheel would be a terrible thing to loose after you have already lost your steering cable.
