Review of the Hunter 37.5 by Sowash, Larry

Year built 1990
Location of boat Les Cheneaux Islands
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1997
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. But I have owned it only 2 weeks. Previously owned a Hunter 31.
Gear that's been added Very little. This boat has virtually everything already, courtesy of its former owner, a compulsive upgrader.
Structural or complex improvements No (See Above}.
The boat's best features Its Remote Autopilot (Spring is very cold here).
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Knot/Log transducer is inoperable.
Sailing characterisitcs Too soon to give a material reply.
Motoring characterisitcs Excellent motoring into stiff (17-20 knot) Spring Breeze.
Liveability This boat would make a great liveaboard, with the electronics, stove, refrigerator, three battery banks (6 total), CNG stove, microwave plus TV, VCR, Stereo, and CD Player. The only needed addition is a cabin heater.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Fair to reasonably good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any My broker, St. Clair Sailboat Center (suburban Detroit) has been very helpful. Two weeks after the sale I am still being helped to fine tune a number of things.
