Review of the Hunter 37.5 by Michael Clark

Year built 1993
Location of boat
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1993
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. If I was to use boat for mostly coastal cruising. I enjoyed sailin her very much but at sea perhaps alittle too light.
Gear that's been added Third reef in main. Cruising spinnaker.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Spaciouness below decks. Sails well in most seas. Have been in near gale force winds at sea for more than 36 hours. 2 crew, boat gave no indication of being stressed.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Anchor locker was not sealed in place properly, needed to be sealed under deck to prevent sea water entering into fwd cabin. Main (companionway) hatch runners had to be resealed, water leaked through after being at sea for more than 3 days.
Sailing characterisitcs Excellent at sea except on a close haul. Seas tend to knock boat back quickly.
Motoring characterisitcs Under powered when heading into 20 to 30 knot winds and seas. Excellent manouverability in port.
Liveability best for 37 footer.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Genraly good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
