Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features This is the roomiest under 40 footer on the water. We really enjoy the cabin layout, the walk through head and aft cabin. The main cabin is ideal for long trips. She's a beauty, and we get a lot of compliments on her.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The furling unit ( Hood ) is junk. Its hard to furl in any kind of wind. The original owner replaced it , compliments of Hood, with the single line unit. After having a Harken on my last boat , I would never buy a Hood again. The Jabsco head cracked and had to be replaced. However, Jabsco, gave me a generous rebate . The winches ( Barient ) have been giving me fits. I lost a race last spring when the primary locked up. The only place I found for replacement part is in Australia.
Sailing characterisitcs My experience is that she is a great light to medium air boat. However, on the wind in 17 , she gets over in a hurry, and needs an early reef. A reach in similar conditions makes for a great ride.
Motoring characterisitcs So far no problems with the Yanmar. It's a little noisy, but a lot better that my old Catalina 30 with no sound deadener. In flat water she will do 7knots at 2700rpm's. I think i'm getting about 1.5 hours to a gallon. Does this sound about right?
Liveability We have spend 3 weeks aboard each summer and hate to come home. We love the aft cabin, and the galley. In fact the whole interior is the boats strongpoint.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Only a few phone calls. So far they have been very helpful with technical advise.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought the boat from the owner.
