Review of the Hunter 37.5 by ddrewry

Year built 1994
Location of boat Guntersville, AL
The boat is sailed on Rivers
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2016
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added bimini, GPS with downvu sonar, currently adding A/C
Structural or complex improvements - Cut 8.5 ft off mast and turned it into a masthead rig (bridge clearance in normal cruising areas). - moved forestay out of anchor locker to a standard stemhead fitting - cut wings off of the bulb keel and faired to bulb shape. Total removed including saw shavings = 156 lbs. No apparent difference in sailing/boat handling but drastically improves shallow water risk and debris/seaweed clinging. - added feathering prop - worth the high cost
The boat's best features Livability and shallow draft
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. only issue is minimal outside locker space. havent yet figured out how to add a generator which would be great for summer cruising along the rivers and waterways
Sailing characterisitcs handles very well, very responsive to helm inputs, very stable in the water whether at dock or underway
Motoring characterisitcs excellent, no prop walk with feathering prop in reverse and instant response
Liveability very liveable interior,
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments looking forward to much use
