Review of the Hunter 216 by Michael Gill

Year built 2006
Location of boat Sydney Australia
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 5-6
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. It is exactly the boat for our needs.
Gear that's been added
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Simplicity, performance, reliability. She is quick, handles well even in a stiff breeze and is ideal for family day sailing.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The trailer design could use some rollers, but that said we have not had great difficulty.
Sailing characterisitcs Fast running, excellent balance. In fact virtually hands free! Reefed tight and flat, she handled an unexpected (30+) gusty evening with ease.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any US Yachts (Matt Hayes) in Sydney is an excellent company to deal with. They handled all of our the delivery issues very well and are very responsive to queries.
