Review of the Hunter 37.5 by A and J Connors

Year built 1992
Location of boat Lake Champlain
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1994
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? There is no doubt that this is the best boat we have ever owned. It is fast, comfortable, sleek looking and very easy to sail. It has a very wide groove. We have owned five other boats and raced seriously for 20 years. We get a kick out of flying by all makes of "faster" boats with our under 5 foot draft Hunter. We love the Arcadia.
Gear that's been added Bimini, refrigeration, solid vang, improved foam, cruising spinnaker, repeater, cockpit cushions, new main and 135 genoa.
Structural or complex improvements no.
The boat's best features Ease of sailing, comfort, speed.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. foam in cushions
Sailing characterisitcs Very fast in light air, and beam to broad reaching. Surprisingly good performance to weather in 10 knots apparent+.
Motoring characterisitcs Martec elliptical prop. 7.2 knots at 2400 rpm.
Liveability Large for its size. Very large head. A palace for two.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Excellent dealer- Willsboro Bay Marina. Willsboro, NY.
Other comments The Hunter is leaps and bounds better than our previous boat which was built by a so-called top end, high end expensive yacht manufacturer.
