Review of the Hunter 37.5 by Steve Hornberger

Year built 1992
Location of boat Baltimore, MD
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Of Course....got the boat at a great price from a great dealer in Deltaville, VA.
Gear that's been added Sun Runner has had extensive refurbishing since purchased including bottom reconditioning, prop and shaft, engine rebuild, replacement of running rigging and standing rigging, and electronics. Added a spinnaker, expanded canvas to close in the cockpit with screens and weather protection. Now she is ready.
Structural or complex improvements See above
The boat's best features This is a great sailing boat, both shorthanded and solo. It is an ideal cruising boat for the Chesapeake Bay and handles well in the ocean.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The boat is a little tender in higher winds and can be overpowering if not reefed early enough. She tends to sail around on an anchor in higher winds making neighbors a little nervous. She is a typical Hunter requiring a little faster approach to docks and slips.

Liveability Adding the enclosure for the cockpit was like adding another room, especially in wet weather or cold weather.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Buying this boat was effortless. Everything was pretty much ready when I was. The dealer was very cooperative and always there to help.
Other comments I have no idea what I could replace this boat with. So, I am just going to keep her.
