Year built 1989
Location of boat Daytona Beach
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength Press here to select
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1996
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, ho hesitation. Hunters Vision was very good, it's unfortunate not more people would accept the unconventional rig.
Gear that's been added Bow deckplate with extended anchor roller and electric anchor windlass. Cold plate refrig with compressor mounted beside water heater. Replaced U saloon incandescent bulbs with warm fluorescents (4 amp drain). Midship deck cleats. Overboard shower pump. High output alternator. 6V battery bank. Smart battery charger. Tides Marine mainsail slide trac, vast improvement. Engine compartment blower for additional cooling. Household A/C mounted in companionway door. Gauges for battery voltage and current, charging current and 110v voltage.
Structural or complex improvements Weak unsupported hull below the head caused concave hull dimple. Hunter advised to cut head floor under the shower pan grip. Professionally cut floor and inserted reinforcing ribs between floor and hull. Glassed back with no trace.
The boat's best features Stability, performance, room, etc as all have noted.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Holding tank too small. Poor access to batteries. No access to fuel tank.
Sailing characterisitcs Good in heavy airs, poor in light due to displacement/sail ratio.
Motoring characterisitcs Good engine power, very maneuverable both forward and astern.
Liveability Excellent for 1, very good for 2.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent in helpful and personal response.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
